The North Wales Region

An Introduction by Regional Co-Ordinator Chris Hickman

Hello N.Wales PF Members, S'mae,

My name is Chris Hickman and I have just taken on the position of North Wales Coordinator so I thought I'd take this opportunity to introduce myself to those of you who have provided an email address. I'd also like to tell you a little about myself and what my hopes are for the region and give you all an opportunity to let me know what developments you would like to see happen in North Wales.

I was born in Wolverhampton and moved to Wales just over three years ago having fell in love with it during holidays etc. I now live in Tywyn with my wife, three of my four children, the dog 'Seren', two cats, two budgies, one African grey parrot and four chickens! so you can see I live in quite a hectic home! I have been a solitary pagan for many years exploring Wicca and Druidry and I am currently following the Bardic Grade course of OBOD (Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids) and I am a member of the Angelsey Druid Order. Many years ago I also explored Taoism and Buddhism and was even a tai chi teacher for a few years and a full time shiatsu practitioner for about four years. I now work as a staff nurse and enjoy my work very much (except for the shift patterns!). Dw i'n dysgu Cymraeg (I am learning Welsh) so opportunities to practise are welcomed, but I think I've bored you enough with me for now so I'll move onto my hopes for the region.

I hope to assist in the increase in membership of the North Wales Region, being such a large and dispersed area I feel that we pagans would enjoy the contact of other Pagans (even if only via the Internet - but hopefully in the flesh too). And don't forget that the 2010 Mid-west and Wales Summer camp is planned for North Wales (hopefully) so there will be many opportunities to get involved if you want to.

I am in the process of setting up a workspace for the North Wales Region which I hope will provide a meeting space on the net for us to interact, it's more useful than a forum such as yahoo groups because it allows any member to edit and create specific pages and information etc. and I hope that those interested will find it very useful for organising events etc. or just for keeping in touch with what's happening. The address is http://pfnorthwales.pbworks.com/ if you want to register as a member just let me know and I can authorise you to use the workspace. If this isn't to your taste then there are the usual groups that you can lurk on the following are useful and may be of interest:

http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/NorthWalesPagans/ Specific to N.Wales Region of the PF

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PFmembers/ PF Members everywhere

http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/pfwales/ open to members and non-members of the PF

http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/powyspagans/ for any pagans who have an interest in Powys

Please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss any issues, I'll do my best to answer your questions and if I can't then I know a man who can (Steve - Thanks ) my contact details are as follows:
